|Recapture the strong, healthy, beautiful essence of your smile.
Porcelain Crowns can serve to restore the structure and function of a singular tooth or multiple teeth, whilst greatly enhancing your smile. The Crown covers the entire surface of the affected tooth and provides increased support and protection. Crowns may also be used to repair teeth that have become damaged, decayed, worn or lost.
Crowns are sometimes also known as 'caps' and are often considered when there is not much tooth left. Crowns may also be used to:
- Restore broken or fractured teeth
- Strengthen Root Canal Teeth
- Realign crooked teeth
- Close gaps in teeth
- Improve discolouration
- Repair chips
- Improve biting abilities
- Amend damage from excessive grinding
- In conjunction with Bridges to replace missing teeth
Crowns can restore your tooth to its full natural function. Crowns may be created to match the colour, translucency and texture of your existing teeth for ultimate harmony within your smile. Porcelain Crowns are made from ceramic materials in our on-site Laboratory. Gold Crowns are also available upon request.
During your treatment, your Dentist will prepare the tooth to the ideal shape for the Crown. Once the tooth is shaped, the Dentist will take an impression of the prepared tooth, one of the opposite jaw and possibly another to mark the way you bite together. The impressions will be given to our Dental Technicians, along with any other information they need to make the Crown. A temporary Crown will be fitted at the end of the first appointment to last until the permanent one is ready.
The life of a Crown will depend on how well it is looked after. The Crown itself cannot decay, but decay can start where the edge of the Crown joins the tooth. It is very important to keep this area as clean as your other teeth, or decay could endanger the Crown. Properly cared for Crowns will last for many years
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and Bridges are aesthetically pleasing dental restorations, which can help you to recapture the stunning essence of your smile after tooth injury or loss. These procedures are often used in conjunction with one another, to serve as an effective form of cosmetic dentistry while providing support, stability and improved dental health.
